THE CLIENT
Our client is a medium-sized freight forwarding company with its own hubs for the distribution of goods on the main transport routes between the hubs and the reloading onto delivery vehicles, which deliver to customers in the area around the hubs..
In addition to warehouses for parcel goods, the hubs also have extensive open-air storage facilities where transport goods are also reloaded.
THE CHALLENGE
The customer works under enormous time pressure in order to be able to meet the fixed delivery deadlines for just in time production companies. At the same time, it must be always ensured that the transported
goods, mainly production material, reach the customers undamaged and in the right quantity. This is an enormous demand on the quality management of
the forwarding company. The company already has a Geutebrück video system with many stationary IP cameras and the connection to its own enterprise
resource planning system. However, on the extensive premises of the hubs, also due to the constant transfer of goods, monitoring gaps occur that cannot be covered by the stationary cameras. As a result video documentation of loading operations is not always possible especially in the outdoor area and possible errors during the loading processes aren’t traceable.
Complaints almost always generate costs at the expense of the freight forwarder.
THE REQUIREMENT
The freight forwarder was looking for a practical solution to be able to monitor and document loading processes on the entire site with an appropriate viewing angle in addition to the stationary cameras. It should also be possible to assign these video images to the transport orders in the enterprise resource planning system. A further requirement is the capture of barcodes
of these goods and linking them to the video images.

THE GEUTEBRÜCK INDIVIDUAL SOLUTION
The new Geutebrück SmartphoneConnect app enables freight forwarding employees to send video images captured by the camera on an Android smartphones to the G-Core video management system, where they can be stored. The flexible, mobile use of the smartphone camera offers the advantage of recording targeted video images of loading operations and other incidents regardless of the overall location on the site. The local WLAN is used to transmit the images. In addition, an LTE connection can be used so that delivery to the customer can also be documented by the driver.
With the barcode scanner integrated in the app, the barcodes of the goods can also be scanned and
assigned to the video images as search criteria. At the same time, data is exchanged with the ERP system via G-Core.
Another advantage of the app is the ability to trigger alarms or events, for example, to forward sudden events such as vehicle collisions on the site to the control center.
