After a peaceful general election, investors feel more positive about Thailand’s political situation. Total foreign direct investment is expected to expand 70% to 400 billion baht (USD 14 billion) by the end of 2011, reflecting strong confidence in Thailand.

Thailand’s vast infrastructure investment is prompting a high local demand for security solutions. For example, the government will invest THB 1.43 trillion (USD 42.2 billion) in the three-year “Stronger Thailand Scheme.” In addition, the Thai government is investing 20 billion Baht (USD 670 million) on network infrastructure projects over the next five years. As a result, demand for network surveillance and mobile monitoring is expected to increase.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the total electronic security market in Thailand to be roughly US$110 million in 2010. Video surveillance accounted for $90 million, with 20 percent growth; intrusion detection accounted for $5 million, with 22-percent growth; and electronic access control accounted for $20 million, with 8-percent growth. With security awareness increasing in Thailand, analysts expect the security industry will continue to see steady growth in 2011 and 2012.
